“The Wirkshop Series and Confluence Magazine are collaborating to enhance the already amazing opportunity that is Camp Wirkshop. At this elite documentary photography workshop, participants learn the steps in great storytelling through documentary interviews, still photography and video capture. The final result of their week’s work is a multimedia piece highlighting one student or staff leader at Camp Encourage, a Kansas City area summer camp for students on the autism spectrum. Camp Encourage opens doors of friendship, learning and summer fun for these eager kids, and Camp Wirkshop works right alongside them to tell the story of the amazing job they do. The final pieces are gifted to Camp Encourage for use in their vital fundraising and promotional efforts. This year, as part of our new partnership the final pieces will also be published in Confluence Magazine, an online quarterly elevating the work of emerging photographers creating serious documentary projects. With the opportunity to be published comes the opportunity for student’s work to be seen by wider audiences including photo editors and industry leaders. Confluence Magazine believes the stories being created at Camp Wirkshop are powerful and important.”
We could not agree more and are thrilled to have Confluence on board to be able to offer more exposure for Camp Encourage but also for our students.
