Tyler Wirken is dedicated to educating photographers in the craft of documentary photography and visual storytelling. Tyler has made a name for himself in the industry as being one of the best wedding photojournalism educators. In addition to being named Top 10 Wedding Photographers by American Photo Magazine, Tyler has taught at the renowned Foundation Workshop for over 10 years, held Wirkshops in Mexico, Brazil, Spain, Argentina, and the United States, as well as a personal mentor to photographers from Amsterdam, Singapore, England, Columbia, and the United States.

“I do not believe in beating around the bush.  I feel that if someone is wanting my opinion or guidance I am going to give it to them in the most honest and straight forward way I know how. I learned early on in my time at newspapers that if a critique is not 100% honest it is pointless. I find that breaking down complicated ideas into simple and relatable steps is the best way to walk someone through a thought process.  Therefore I strive to find ways to explain processes in a way my students can easily understand and grasp.  It is an ever evolving process. I use the term “Tough Love” to describe my teaching style. Ultimately my job is to leave you with the knowledge and drive to be tough on yourself so that when our time is over you can continue to push and grow on your own.”

“Tyler Wirken changed my life. There is no other way to describe it. Never have I met anyone in my life whom has played such a monumental role in not only my photography but just the general way I approach my life……No judgement on where you were coming from, just an intense desire to get you to an awesome place.”

“What I love about learning from Tyler is that he’s real and not a “fluffer”. He’s honest, even when you don’t want to hear it. He WANTS you to be better and to learn. Tyler is humble, and bold. If you’re looking for a workshop to push you out of your comfort zone and to find what you’re passionate about, this really is the one for you.”
